May Whalen of Cape Broyle

Mary Whalen was born in 1915 and is the daughter of Mary Whalen and sister to Mike and Ann, all of whom were Leach informants. She married Johnny Maddox of Bay Bulls. May died in June, 1997.

Leach collected three songs from May: "The Star of Logy Bay," "The Grey Mare," and "The Squid Jigging Ground."
