Photos from the Leach Collection

The exact provenance of all these pictures is unclear. Some were taken by a friend traveling with the Leaches, some were acquired through the Newfoundland government to illustrate Folk Ballads and Songs of the Labrador Coast. With few exceptions, we have not been able to track down the locations and the people depicted (save for Dr. and Mrs. Leach, of course). However, they were all in Leach's possession at the time of his death, and constituted part of his collection of Newfoundland materials.
