SECTION 3. PARKING FEES

3.1 St. John’s North and South Campus

3.1.1 General

The following parking fee schedule applies to employees and other persons with a direct association with the university or hospital who are allocated parking areas on the St. John’s North and South campus. (Students see Section 3, sub-sections 3.1.2 to 3.1.7.)

Parking Area 60 $250 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 1, 9A, 9H, 28 $125 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 9C, 9K $75 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 4 $72 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 1A, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7A, 9, 10, 13, 15A, 15B, 21, 23, 25, 30, 31,

51, 52, 56 $60 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 7, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 62 $48 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 8, 11, 12, 14, 16A 22, 24, 36, 50, 53, 54, 55, 57, 58

$36 (plus HST) per annum

3.1.2 Full-time day students living in university residences may purchase permits on a semester basis for areas 8, 10A, 11, 12, 14, 22, and 24 at $12 per semester or $36 per annum (plus HST), on a first-come basis. Proof of residency and vehicle ownership must be provided.

3.1.3 Full-time and part-time day students not residing on campus and who have acquired a minimum of 48 university credit hours, may purchase permits for areas 16A or 36 at a cost of $12 per semester or $36 per annum (plus HST), on a firstcome basis. Proof of university credit hours will be required.

3.1.4 Part-time evening students may purchase permits for areas 15, 16A or 36 at $6 (plus HST) per semester. Permits are effective after 3 p.m. weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.

3.1.5 Areas 8, 10A, 11, 12 and 14 will be allocated primarily to students in residences, on a first-come basis.

3.1.6 Students attending summer school or intersession, and who are not residing on campus, may purchase permits for areas 16A or 36 at $12 (plus HST). Permits will be issued on a first-come basis to students who have acquired not less than 48 university credit hours.

Students living in university residence while attending summer school or intersession may purchase permits for areas 8, 10A, 11, 12 or 14 at $12 (plus HST).

Permits will be issued on a first-come basis.

3.2 Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland Parking Fees.

3.2.1 The following parking fee schedule applies to Marine Institute employees or others working at the Marine Institute.

Parking Area M2, M4 $60 (plus HST) per annum.

3.2.2 Full-time and part-time students with 16 credits or second- and third-year students, may purchase permits for area M1 at a cost of $12 per semester or $36 per annum (plus HST) on a first-come basis.

3.2.3 The following fees apply to other university and Marine Institute locations not listed:

Permits for employees - $36 (plus HST) per annum

Full-time and part-time day students - $12 (plus HST) per annum

Part-time evening students - $6 (plus HST) per semester

3.3 Hospital Employees

The following parking fee schedule applies to hospital employees or others working at the hospital:

Parking Area 9A - $125 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 9C, 9K - $75 (plus HST) per annum

Parking Areas 9B, 9E - $5 (plus HST) per annum

3.4 Service Personnel

3.4.1 Full-time service personnel: Applicable area rate.

3.4.2 Part-time service personnel: $18 (plus HST) per annum.

3.5 Contractors and/or their Employees

As and where space permits (space allocation to be determined by Campus Enforcement and Patrol Section.): $2 per day or $5 per week (plus HST).

3.6 Second Vehicle

Five dollars per annum or any portion thereof, non-refundable. (See Section 2.4 for conditions regarding permit.)

3.7 Second Permit

Five dollars per annum or any portion thereof, non-refundable. (See Section 2.5 for conditions regarding permit.)

3.8 Motorcyles

Eight dollars per annum or any portion thereof, non-refundable.

3.9 Replacement Permits

Three dollars. (See Section 2.7 for conditions regarding permit.)

3.10 Replacement Control Gate Cards

Applicants who are issued a gate control card and who lose or mislay the card during the permit year may be subject to the full parking fee, or prorated parking fee when applicable, for a replacement card.

3.11 Car Pool

Applicable parking area rate. (See Section 2.6 for conditions regarding permit.)

3.12 Prorated Fee

Permits issued for 2009/2010, except as noted above, will be valid from May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010. Permits sold after June 30, 2009 will be prorated monthly. A minimum charge of $5 (plus HST) will apply.

3.13 Evening and Weekend Permits

Three dollars per annum or any portion thereof, non-refundable. (See Section 2.8.5 for conditions regarding permit.)

3.14 Payment of Fees

Fees may be paid at the Enforcement and Patrol Office, Marine Institute Cashier’s Office, Room 2106, or the Health Sciences Centre Enforcement and Patrol Office by cash, cheque or money order. Employees sending fees through the mail must send either cheque or money order, payable to Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Employees of the university may have their parking fee paid through salary deduction by completing and signing the applicable portion of the application form. NOTE: Applicants must include their employee number on the application form. Applications for payroll deduction cannot be accepted after Sept. 30, 2009.

NOTE: HST applicable.
