On Friday, there will be a special lunch-time performance of Mary Walsh's historical play set in early St. John's, THE GARDEN PARTY, at Commissariat House, just across from the Sheraton, from 12:45-1:45.
At 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening, Rob Power and
friends will be presenting The Power of Percussion at the D. F.
Cook Recital Hall in the School of Music at Memorial. See

Sir Humphrey Gilbert started the British empire here in 1583.
John Winthrop of Harvard College, Massachusetts,
sailed here to observe the Transit of Venus on 6 June 1761.
The Battle of St. John’s on 15 September 1762 was the
last major conflict in the Seven Years War.
Marconi received the 1st transatlantic signal on Signal Hill in 1901.
St. John’s is North America’s easternmost

John Cabot débarque sur nos côtes en 1497.
Sir Humphrey Gilbert y fait naître l’Empire britannique en 1583.
John Winthrop (Harvard College, Massachusetts) s’y rend en bateau pour observer le passage de Vénus le 6 juin 1761.
La bataille de St. John’s le 15 septembre 1762 est le dernier conflit important de la Guerre de Sept ans.
