Personal Profile

I am currently a professor in the Department of Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. In addition to teaching engineering design for arctic ships and offshore structures, I am also conducting research with graduate students, all working to improve understanding of the forces arising from ice effects on ships and marine structures.

Prior to joining MUN in 2009, I worked with the National Research Council Canada, conducting research on scaling methods for ship-ice model tests and the dynamics of pack ice and iceberg impacts with moored structures. I have also worked on wave and current loads on aquaculture structures.

I am a member of the Canadian Mirror Committee to ISO TC67/SC7 Offshore Structures Standards, and Chair of the Canadian Working Group on Marine Operations Standards.
