COURSE OVERVIEW
This course examines the use of computer-based technology across the
curriculum, proposes approaches for integrating information &
communication technology into the curriculum, and provides an
introduction to computer-related hardware and operating systems.
Both the use of the computer as a means of teaching specific curriculum
content and as a means of extending human capabilities will be
addressed. Through a combination of lecture, discussion, independent
reading, and group activities, students will be introduced to the
major issues surrounding the use of computer and related technology
in schools and will be given the opportunity to develop lesson plans
incorporating this technology. Although an in-depth knowledge of
computers is not a prerequisite for this course, some knowledge is
required. To ensure all students have at least a passing familiarity
with computers, it is recommended that students take advantage of the
various tutorials available in E5006 and videos available from the
CMC. Some instruction will be provided in class.
