COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students will:
- evaluate the use of computers in various teaching/learning environments and determine if this use is appropriate.
- apply current instructional principles, research, and appropriate assessment practices in the use of computers in the classroom.
- discuss the main issues relating to the evaluation of educational software.
- successfully implement computer-supplemented learning activities into their teaching activities
- demonstrate knowledge of multimedia and telecommunications as used to support instruction.
- use general purpose software (wordprocessing, spreadsheets, databases, HTML, etc.) in their teaching.
- recognize the basic components of computer hardware and be able to explain their general function.
- discuss the legal, ethical, and human issues surrounding the use of computers in education.
- describe the promises and pitfalls associated with use of the Internet as an educational resource.
- identify sources of information necessary to stay current with computer-related technology.
- Recognize and use the basic features of the Windows 95/98 operating system.
