Lynn joined the Economics Department at Memorial University in July 2016. Before joining MUN, Lynn was based in the Institute for Employment Research (IER) at the University of Warwick, UK from 2006 to 2016 and she was a Research Associate in the Department of Economics at the University Sheffield, UK from 2005 to 2006.
Lynn obtained her BSc (2001) and MA (2002) in Economics at Memorial University after which she was a Rothermere Fellow and completed her PhD (2006) at the University of York, UK.
Over the past ten years, Lynn has jointly led a programme of research on apprenticeships, training and skills, with particular interest in the employer and labour market perspectives and focus on the UK and Europe. She has carried out research for a number of government departments and other bodies in the UK and Europe, such as the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Lynn has served as a Specialist Adviser to the UK House of Commons Education Select Committee and has been an expert witness to the Joint Sub-Committee on Education, Skills and the Economy for an inquiry on apprenticeships. She also has extensive experience in collaborating with research partners throughout the UK and Europe.
Lynn’s main areas of interest are: Labour economics; economics of education; health economics; public policy; programme evaluation; and vocational education and training.
