Research

I am an environmental geochemist specializing in biotic and abiotic synthesis and degradation of organic compounds. I received my PhD from the University of Toronto, where I studied the biodegradation of dry cleaning fluids and other solvents in groundwater. Subsequently, I have worked at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, McMaster University, and the Institute for the Study of Earth's Interior, Japan, studying organic synthesis and degradation. My research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Teaching

During the academic year Dr. Morrill usually teaches 2 or 3 of the following courses:

EASC 1000 Earth Sciences,
EASC 2502 Introduction to Geochemistry,
EASC 2916 Natural Hazards,
EASC 3600 Environmental Geology,
EASC 3610 Hydrogeology,
EASC 4605 Environmental Geoscience Field School EASC 6500 Stable Isotope Geochemistry
