Research
I am an environmental geochemist specializing in biotic and abiotic synthesis and degradation of organic compounds. I received my PhD from the University of Toronto, where I studied the biodegradation of dry cleaning fluids and other solvents in groundwater. Subsequently, I have worked at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, McMaster University, and the Institute for the Study of Earth's Interior, Japan, studying organic synthesis and degradation. My research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
