I completed a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and a Master and PhD degree in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from the University of Delaware in USA. I am a Professional Engineer registered in the State of Connecticut, USA. I previously held the positions of Postdoctoral Associate and Associate Research Scientist at Auburn University, California Institute of Technology, and Yale University. Since August 2010, I have been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University.
My research areas include contaminant hydrogeology and aqueous environmental geochemistry. My current research investigates (i) migration of engineered nanoparticles, mineral colloids, and natural organic matter (humic substances) in soil and groundwater; (ii) mineral dissolution and groundwater contamination.
