I had the wonderful honour of representing our Local at the Day of Mourning Ceremony at Confederation Building today. I am sure the beautiful ceremony touched the hearts of everyone in the room. Candles were lit for every worker injured or killed at the workplace in our province during 2016. Over 100 wreaths were placed around these candles.
The fish harvesters who were lost as a result of the "Pop's Pride" tragedy, Eugene Walsh, Keith Walsh Sr, Keith Walsh Jr, and Bill Humby were given a special honour.
Please be aware health and safety is a very important part of our work day. Be safe!
