Assistant Professor in Counselling

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN COUNSELLING Applications are invited for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre, Memorial University, St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Qualifications: An appropriate doctorate in Counselling or Clinical Psychology or from other wellness disciplines including Social Work, Medicine or Nursing from a recognized university is required. Licensing by the appropriate regulatory board is required.

Memorial’s Student Wellness and Counselling Centre comprises counselling, student health, and wellness professionals. The Centre is committed to developing and furthering interprofessional research and practice to advance campus-wide wellness. The candidate will have experience or demonstrate potential for leading in the development of interdisciplinary clinical, training and research partnerships within the university and with local and regional health boards. An established record with research and grant applications is strongly preferred.

We are seeking a professional whose duties will include group and individual counselling or psychotherapy across a broad spectrum of student concerns within the context of our innovative stepped care model, and who has experience in broad areas of mental health and wellness. The position includes involvement in our training program within an expanding interprofessional practice environment. The candidate will be expected to supervise master’s students, medical or psychiatric residents and doctoral psychology residents in our Canadian Psychological Association-accredited internship, and experience in this area is preferred.

Salary is based on qualifications and experience in accordance with the Collective Agreement between Memorial University of Newfoundland and Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association.

The appointment is effective January 1, 2017, subject to budgetary approval.
