Fair Dealing Policy

Under the Canadian Copyright Act, the copyright owner of a work has the sole right to make copies of that work with certain exceptions, the most important being "fair dealing" which allows copying for research and private study. To make use of this exception, you should have a clear idea of what fair dealing means.

The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) prepared a fair dealing policy which it recommended for adoption by each AUCC member outside Quebec. This Fair Dealing policy has been formally endorsed by the Board of Regents at Memorial University. It is the policy that must be followed by all faculty, students and staff at Memorial.
