Workshops for Science Students
Attention all science students!!! The ScienceM@tters program now holds reoccurring weekly Career Development Workshops located in various boardrooms within science departments. Below is the schedule which is updated each semester. So, be sure to check back for future semesters! More updates to come.
Environmental Science Career Networking Event
On February.8th, 2017 science students/graduates will have an opportunity to pitch their skills and experiences to employers from various companies in the science field. During the event, groups of students/grads and participating employers/ recruiters will be matched up at tables and get acquainted. The students will move to another table approximately every 7 minutes to meet another employer(s) at the next table until all students have met all employers.
Note: Although this Science Networking event is focused on Environmental Science- many of the companies attending hire for various science backgrounds. The site will be updated soon to inform students of what backgrounds companies recruit for.
Science Career Talks
On Monday, October.30th, 2017 there will be a Biochemistry Career Talk for science students/graduates whereby biochemistry alumni will speak about what career path they have pursued and how they navigated their job search with their backgrounds. Since many jobs are not publicly advertised, networking often plays a major role in how students and graduates find jobs and a career that fits their interests and values.
Science Career Consultations
All science students are welcome to book a Career Planning Consultation with Kristen Roberts, Science Career Development Coordinator. These appointments can help you develop career goals and learn more about where your Science degree can take you. Other appointments include, resume critiques, mock interviews, and job search consults. Appointments are booked through the My MUNLife portal in my.mun.ca.
