Frequently Asked Questions
Before I Apply
Students can apply for 2017 Externship opportunities by viewing the Extern job postings on My.mun.ca and submitting their application package. An application package includes:
- Application form
- Letter of interest (Questions can be found on application)
How does an Externship differ from an internship?
An externship is a short-term career exploration opportunity whereby students are immersed in an industry of their interest to network and gain career exposure. Internships are usually 2-3 month long opportunities and are often part of a program; Externships are not jobs, but are 2 week long unpaid placements that could lead to internships or possible employment.
Students are responsible for all expenses related to the externship, including travel, accommodations (if any), meals, etc.
All currently enrolled post-secondary studetns at Memorial University.
If you are interested in multiple placements, students must submit a separate application for each placement. Please note that students will recieve one Externship placement per Extern period.
A selection committee from Career Development will review the applications and match students with Extern hosts. Please note, that there are limited Extern opportunties; therefore, not every student will recieve a Externship.
