Microsoft SharePoint Project - Vice-Presidents Council


The goal of this project is to implement Microsoft SharePoint as a platform for collaboration, workflow and document management to support the Vice Presidents Council (VPC). The VPC is the senior decision making body of the university with responsibilities for pan-university operations and affairs, for matters that cross over vice-presidential portfolios, and for making recommendations to the president on matters within his or her sole authority. VPC is comprised of the five Vice Presidents who represent different portfolios (Academic, Research, Finance and Administration) and campuses (Grenfell Campus and the Marine Institute) and is supported by representatives from each respective office, the Office of the President, the Office of General Counsel, and a VPC Coordinator.

The following objectives will be met as a part of this solution:

  • Version control
  • Advance document search capabilities with content indexing
  • Improved collaboration on documents, reports and other records among Vice Presidential offices located across three campuses which manage their own domains, networks, and accounts
  • Enhanced workflow
  • Enhanced security and privacy requirements

This project is expected to start in May 2014 and be completed by September 2014.
