The CAA/ACA 2015 Organizing Committee is delighted to announce that the 47th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Archaeological Association will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador from April 29-May 3, 2015. All sessions, professional meetings, and the conference banquet will be hosted at the Sheraton. We invite you to participate in the conference as a session organizer, presenter of a paper or poster or simply by attending the conference. Sessions, papers and posters on all areas of interest to the Canadian archaeological community may be submitted. Given that this conference will take place in Newfoundland and Labrador we would like to encourage participants to submit sessions, papers or posters that reflect the interplay between Aboriginal cultures, between Aboriginal cultures and European newcomers, and among European settlers. These topics are particularly appropriate for Newfoundland and Labrador, a province rich in First Nations, Inuit, and Metis history and the scene of some of the first European landfalls in the New World.

Registration will start in the late afternoon of April 29, and a reception will be held at the Sheraton that evening. Sessions and workshops will start on the morning of Thursday, April 30 and will finish on the afternoon of Saturday, May 2nd. The banquet will be held on Saturday evening, May 2nd. We are currently compiling an exciting set of workshops and tours, along with the ever-popular pub crawl; we will post the details as they are available. We are also working on events specifically geared towards students.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, we are lucky to be surrounded by a vibrant archaeological community, extraordinary archaeological sites, and a stunning natural environment. Please come visit us in St. John's and experience them all; we look forward to seeing you in 2015!

We will update this website with our workshops, tours, and conference events. Conference participants may wish to spend a few extra days in Newfoundland and Labrador, and there are lots of things to see and do while you are here. Visit The Rooms (our public cultural space which incorporates the Provincial Museum, the Provincial Art Gallery and the Provincial Archives), and the Johnson Geo Centre, a geology museum carved into the rock of Signal Hill. Enjoy the St. John's music scene at the many pubs and taverns along George Street.

Those wishing to travel outside St. John's may want to visit the Cape Spear National Historic Site which marks the easternmost point of land in Canada and is located just minutes outside the city. Wonderful iceberg, whale and sea bird tours take place in the Witless Bay and Cape St. Mary's ecological reserves, and nearby archaeological sites include Ferryland and Cupids.
