Plants
The flora of Newfoundland and Labrador comprises of approximately
1,500 vascular plant species. Approximately 1,000 of these
are native species (grow naturally in a given
area) while 500 are considered naturalized
species. These naturalized species have become well
established and grow wild in an area, but have originated from
another region or part of the world. They were brought here
either intentionally or accidentally, and have
flourished.
