MUN Botanical Garden School Programs
Welcome Back Teachers and Happy Fall!
MUN Botanical Garden is very pleased to provide a variety of programs and resources for students and educators this fall, including K-12 school visit programs, outreach programs, educator workshops and free teacher resources.
School Visit Program:
The Botanical Garden has welcomed teachers and students to the Botanical Garden since 1973. Once again this fall, a variety of curriculum-linked programs, suitable for K-12 students is available. All programs can be customized to meet your individual needs. Nature hikes, duck-feeding, songs and story time are just some components of our fall K-6 school visit programs.
The popular Halloween Howl School Program is also going ahead this year, from October 15 – 31. Please book early to avoid disappointment. Fee: $3.00 per student. Please note: Due to safety regulations and capacity limitations, all groups wishing to visit the Botanical Garden must pre-book in advance and be accompanied by MUNBG education staff.
From Garden to Classroom Outreach Program
Can’t get away? We can visit your school and will spend the day presenting to individual classes. We will provide an activity-based program, and for Kindergarten and primary students, songs, stories, games, a special appearance by Squirt the turtle (if requested) and a curriculum-linked activity will be provided. Fee: $4.00 per student.
MUN Botanical Garden has been offering educator workshops for 40 years. A variety of programs are available for early-childhood, primary, elementary, intermediate and secondary school educators, including: Nurturing Nature in Programs and Play, suitable for teachers and anyone who would like to incorporate nature, gardening and the great outdoors into their education programs and play time; Breaking Ground, creating biodiversity and wildlife habitats in the school yard; Grocery Store Botany, PlantWatch, and more.
