The following lists events held at MUN Botanical Garden organized by FOG. Some, but not all, of these events are listed in the Garden's Calendar of Events.
Please Note: Some dates listed are tentative while others may have to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances. Please recheck dates on this webpage the week before the planned event or call the Garden (864-8590) to confirm details.
FOG Spring Plant Sale - Public
Saturday, June 11, 2016; 10am - noon
The sale will take place at the Botanical Garden’s on Mt Scio Rd, St. John’s. Sales typically consist of a selection of flowering perennials, shrubs, hostas and rhododendrons propagated by FOG’s Horticultural Group. Click here for additional information on volunteering.
Volunteer Trail Patrol Training
Saturday, June 11; 2:30 - 4 pm
Training is offered for FOG members who are interesting in walking the trails in the Garden’s natural areas keeping an eye out for any trail condition issues and reporting back on same to the Garden’s staff. Volunteers are always needed!
Pink Days in Bloom
Friday, June 17 to July 3, 2016
For approximately two weeks, starting with Garden Days, for each FOG raised plant sold from the outdoor sales table at the Garden, FOG will make a $1 donation towards Pink Days in Bloom fundraising for breast cancer research in Atlantic Canada. See Pink Days in Bloom for other fundraising initiatives being planned in Newfoundland & Labrador.
Seniors' Day at the Garden
Thursday, June 23, 2016; 10 am to 3 pm
Visit the Garden and participate in walks, talks and displays. Chat with like-minded people and enjoy a complimentary hot beverage and selection of treats served by volunteers. This event is open to individuals age 60 and older with free admission to the Garden for visiting seniors.

FOG Annual General Meeting & Garden Walk
Thursday, July 16, 2016; 6pm (to be confirmed)
The Friends of the Garden (FOG) will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 16th, 2016. Weather permitting, a special tour of the Garden typically starts at 6pm followed by a short refreshment break, a 30 minute business meeting, and an illustrated talk. Details to follow closer to the event's date.
Mystery Garden Tour
Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, 2016
See Mystery Garden Tour 2016 for more info on this self-guided tour of select private gardens. FOG's share of this fundraising event is dedicated towards repurposing the registered heritage building known as the Squires Carriage House.
FOG Members Only Fall Plant Sale
Wednesday, Sept 7, 2016; 4:30-5:30 pm
FOG members get first pick of limited selections of plants propagated by FOG’s Horticultural Group! This Members Only sale will start promptly at 4pm and "early birds" will be asked to line-up before entering the sales area. This "rain or shine" event is held just beyond the Garden's greenhouses, 315 Mt Scio Rd, St. John's. Cash, Visa and MasterCard payments only.
2016 Fall Plant List
FOG's Fall Plant Sale - Public
Saturday, Sept 10, 2016; 10 am to noon
Fall sales typically consist of a selection of flowering perennials, shrubs, hostas, ferns and heathers propagated by FOG’s Horticultural Group (click here for additional information). This event will take place in the Garden's Field Centre, 306 Mt Scio Rd, St. John's.

Annual Spring Clean-Up of the Garden
Help clean up the Garden’s grounds, beds, and pathways! Please bring rakes, pruners and gloves if you have them. Meet task coordinators in the Field Centre’s main parking lot, 306 Mt Scio Rd.

FOG Mt. Scio Roadside Clean-Up
Cleanup of the road side and ditches from the Garden’s gates to Thorburn Road in support of Clean St. John’s annual anti-litter initiative. Meet the event coordinator at the Garden’s main gate. Please bring gloves. pick-up sticks, garbage bags. Reflective safety vests will be provided.
