Congratulations to Winners of FOG's 2015 Spring Plant Sale Lottery!
Tim Walsh, Nursery Manager at the Garden, drew Jane C's ticket number 450723 as winner of the 1st prize Alpine Trough and Charlotte B's ticket number 450908 as 2nd prize winner of the much coveted two bags of the Garden's leaf mould compost. The $351 raised has been set aside toward funds required to complete interior upgrades of the Squires Carriage House. Thanks to all who purchased tickets in support of FOG's ongoing fundraising project. Additional donations for the restoration of this municipal, provincial and national registered heritage building gratefully accepted.

Volunteer Trail Patrol Training
The next training date: Saturday, May 30.
Training is offered for FOG members who are interesting in walking the trails in the Garden’s natural areas keeping an eye out for any trail condition issues and reporting back on same to the Garden’s staff. Volunteers are always needed!
FOG Members Only Spring Plant Pre-Sale
Wednesday, June 3; 4:30 to 5:30pm
The pre-sale will take place rain or shine next to the barn just behind the Garden’s greenhouses, 315 Mt Scio Rd, St. John’s. FOG members get first pick of limited selections of plants propagated by FOG’s Horticultural Group! Click here for additional information.
FOG Spring Plant Sale
Saturday, June 6; 10am - noon
This sale will take place in the Garden’s Field Centre, 306 Mt Scio Rd, St. John’s. Sales typically consist of a selection of flowering perennials, shrubs, hostas, ferns, heaths, rhododendrons and grasses propagated by FOG’s Horticultural Group. FOG Mt. Scio Roadside Clean-Up
Monday, June 8; 6:30-7:30pm
Clean up of the road side and ditches from the Garden’s gates to Thorburn Road in support of Clean St. John’s annual anti litter initiative. Meet the event coordinator at the Garden’s main gate. Please bring gloves. Pickup sticks, garbage bags and reflective safety vests will be provided.
Pink Days in Bloom
Friday June 12th to Sunday June 21st
For the period of June 12th through to and including June 21st a levy of $1 per pot will be collected for each plant sold from the sales tables outside the Garden’s Field Centre and donated by FOG to the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Foundation – Atlantic. FOG Annual General Meeting & Garden Walk
Thursday, July 9th (rescheduled from June 11th)
The Friends of the Garden (FOG) will be holding their Annual General Meeting on July 9, 2015. The meeting, which begins at 7:00 pm, will be preceded by a walk through the Garden, guided by Dr. Howard Clase, a very knowledgeable and long-time supporter of the Garden. There will be a refreshment break after the meeting followed by a short illustrated talk featuring Mystery Garden Tour 2014 gardens. All activities will be at the Garden’s Field Centre located at 306 Mt. Scio Road. A revised agenda has been emailed to members.

Seniors' Day at the Garden
Wednesday, June 24; 10 am to 3 pm
Visit the Garden and participate in walks, talks and displays. Chat with like-minded people and enjoy a complimentary hot beverage and selection of treats served by volunteers. This event is open to individuals age 60 and older with free admission to the Garden for visiting seniors.

Annual Spring Clean-Up of the Garden
Help clean up the Garden’s grounds, beds, and pathways! . Please bring rakes, pruners and gloves if you have them. Meet task coordinators in the Field Centre’s main parking lot, 306 Mt Scio Rd. Afterwards, join other volunteers for a soup lunch hosted by FOG in the “white house” at 327 Mt Scio Road.
Garden and trails open for the season!

First Annual Walking Trail Clean-Up
Join others in walking the trails that lead through the woods, over the marshes, across the fen and up the hill in the Garden’s natural area cleaning up winter debris, etc. Please bring rakes, pruners and gloves. The Field Centre’s main parking lot will be the starting point to form teams assigned trails to tackle clean up on one of the Garden’s five walking trails.
