Early Childhood Education

Preschools, daycares and child care centres wishing to book a 1hour program with us may do so as either a Visit program or an Outreach program:

Visit

Offered May - November, 7 days a week during our open hours at the Botanical Garden. The program may have a short indoor component, but will be focused on an outdoor walk where children see, smell, touch and discuss a respect for nature.  Songs, stories and duck feeding will be included.
Cost: $3/child or a minimum group charge of $30.  No cost for approved teachers/leaders.
Becasue this program will include an outdoor component, children will need to dress for the weather.

Outreach

Offered December - April, Monday - Friday, between 9am and 4pm.  The program may include talking about plants and animals, puppets, story time, songs, and a craft to make your own flower pot and plant a seed.
Cost: $4/child or minimum group charge of $40. No cost for approved teachers/leaders.
This program is usually indoors, but if you have the facilities, and the weather is nice then we are always happy to go outside.

Sunday Family Programs

We do encourage families to participate in our very popular series of family programs throughout the season. The family programs are very similar to the parent & tot program, are offered all season, and do not require registration. Everyone is welcome. Feedback from visitors has indicated that young children (and their families) thoroughly enjoy this experience.

For more information, please check out our Family Programs page.

Parent & Tot Program

Offered in the spring and fall, the Parent & Tot Program encourages garden and nature exploration, hiking, storytelling, and songs. An excellent opportunity for parents (or care-givers) and children to have fun together while learning about nature and gardening. A respect for nature and all its “critters” will be emphasized. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

For more information, please check out our Parent & Tot page.

Group Tours

Family groups may book a special education program with Education staff. Please book at least one week in advance. Please call 864-8590 or email bgprograms@mun.ca for more information.
