Grocery Store Botany
The best way to learn about botany is to play with your food!
The Botanical Garden education team have put together various level units on Grocery Store Botany that we encourage you to use in your clasroom, or may book us for a workshop. Below are some some sucessful exapmples of this program:
MUN Biology 2010: Plant Biology
The Botanical Garden is the host for two botany labs: Grocery Store Botany and Propagation.
Teacher & Educator Workshops
During the original NSERC grant, two From Garden to Classroom educator workshops were held in the winter of 2011. The grant led to the creation of the From Garden to Classroom Activity Guide. Workshops can now be booked for groups of 10 or more.
Junior Naturalist Camps
During our summer camps (Grades K-7) all children are introduced to our newspaper flower pots, and planting of a bean seed. We have also successfully had a great snack time botany conversation.
Out unit progams can be found in our Resource Manual: From Garden to Classroom: Activity and Resouce Guide
