MUN Botanical Garden Location:

The Memorial University of Newfoundland Botanical Garden is located at 306 Mount Scio Road in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. It is located within the boundaries of Pippy Park.

Open Season:
May 1 - August 31,
10 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily

September 1 - November 30,
10 a.m. - 4 p.m., daily

The Botanical Garden will be closed October 6 - 7, for Thanksgiving, and November 11, in observance of Remembrance Day.


Winter Office Hours:

(Garden and trails are closed for the season)

December 1 - April 30,
Weekdays, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 - 4 p.m.

During the winter the field centre is closed during the lunch hour.

GARDEN FACILITIES

The Field Centre

Adjacent to the car park, the field centre houses the Garden conference room, children's classroom, reception desk, gift shop, library, washrooms and café (which is closed during the winter).

There is also a public display area, with a variety of gardening and nature exhibits on display throughout the season, including the Annual Art Exhibit.

The Flower Gardens

The flower gardens are located near the Field Centre and include: the cottage garden; rock gardens (including a limestone rockery and scree); alpine house; peat and woodland beds; Newfoundland heritage garden; rhododendron dell; Friend's wildlife garden; shade garden; medicinal garden; Friend's dried flower garden; vegetable garden; compost demonstration garden and much more.

The Nature Trails

Five nature trails meander through a 110 acre managed nature reserve. The trails are wood chip covered and display a large variety of Newfoundland plants growing in native Newfoundland habitats including wetlands (bog and fen), freshwater (Oxen Pond), boreal forest, and Newfoundland barrens.
