Supports and services

Services for students with disabilities are provided within an integrated Student Affairs and Services model, including:

  • Campus orientation and in-take interview
  • Academic accommodations for tests and exams (including the MPT and online courses)
  • Sign language interpretation
  • Note-taking assistance
  • Assistance in completing grant applications (eg. Canada Student Loans Program)
  • Liaison to university and community services
  • Disability awareness activities for faculty, staff, and students

  • Wheelchair desks
  • Keys for wheelchair-accessible elevators and lifts
  • On-campus (wheelchair-accessible) transportation
  • Access to parking accommodations
  • Scooter/wheelchair storage and recharging facility
  • Exercise equipment for wheelchair users is available at The Works - Field House recreation complex.

  • Access to TTYs and telephones with amplification
  • FM device (for students who are hard of hearing)
  • Adaptive technology (e.g., ZoomText, JAWS, Kurzweil 1000 & 3000, and closed-circuit televisions)

  • Academic skills workshops, learning strategies, and individual, group, and career counselling sessions are available at the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre.
  • Psycho-educational assessments for learning disabilities, attention difficulties, and anxiety are available at the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre on a fee-for-service basis.
