NEWS AND UPDATES
We are planning a series of e-lectures and virtual round-table
discussions to accommodate those who have been unable to attend our
workshops, or who are interested in further discussions. The
schedule of events can be viewed here - please
contact Yolanda Wiersma if you are interested in
participating.
As with the Ottawa workshop, we have prepared a concept paper for discussion at the Fall workshops. Please feel free to download this paper and provide comments, even if you can not attend one of the workshops.
Upcoming Meeting - BC Parks and Protected Areas Research Forum
We are holding a half-day workshop on the relationship between
protected areas and sustainable forest management as part of the
BC Parks and Protected Areas
Research Forum. The workshop will be in the morning of Monday,
December 1. Please contact Yolanda Wiersma if you are interested in
participating. If you are interested in registration for the
BCPARF, then please visit the meeting link here.
We held our second workshop September 11-12 in Halifax at the
Citadel Hotel,
focusing on the values associated with protected areas for
sustainable forest management, and the range of regulatory and
policy tools that can be applied to facilitate the relationship
between protected areas and sustainable forest management.
You can find a draft agenda for the workshop using the links
below.
Halifax
workshop - draft agenda
Workshop 1
The first workshop was held
January 22-23, 2008 at the Delta
Hotel in Ottawa. You can download the workshop agenda here and
visit this link for pictures
and the workshop report.
In preparation for the workshop, we have prepared a concept
paper outlining some preliminary thoughts. The document will
form the basis for much fo the workshop discussion, however, if you
are unable to attend, your comments and feedback are still
welcome! This is intended to be an organic document and is in no
way a definitive summary of the issues surrounding protected areas
and sustainable forest management.
Have any comments on anything you see on this site? Please feel free to give us feedback as the project develops by using this online form.
