The Shine-Delgarno sequence
indicates that the initiation triplet
5'-AUG-3' is a few nucleotides downstream. A charged tRNA-met (with a 3'-UAC-5'
anticodon) binds to the initiation triplet in the SSU.
The LSU then joins to form the ribosomal monosome
