Adult versus neonatal Polar Bears (Ursus [Thalarctos] maritimus)

    Neonates are born during the mother's denning period after a gestation of 195 ~ 265 days, due to delayed implantation.  Birth weight is 600 gm: the altricial young are born blind with a thin covering of fur.
