Disjunct montane distribution of subspecies of Mountain Shrews (Sorex saussurei)

Mountain shrews are found only above a certain elevation. The six described subspecies are allopatric; the most widespread subspecies is found on the plateau of central Mexico, the others on disjunct mountains.
