Change under Meiotic Drive
The ordinary Mendelian Law
is that the two alleles present in an individual will
be equally represented in gametes. In mice, the T-locus
on Chromosome 17 has several T alleles that
occur in as much as 90% of the sperm of Tt heterozygotes.
The graph illustrates Eq NS 10.7 for r =
0.1 and fA = 0.2 initially,
where r is the strength of meiotic
drive and causes f(T) sperm = (1 -
r)/2 and f(t) sperm = (1+r)/2.
