Loss of alleles with strong selective disadvantage in finite populations


Trajectory of a strongly deleterious (s = -0.100) mutant allele in multiple populations (N = 100 @). From an initial fA = 1/200 = 0.005, the allele is rapidly eliminated, rising by chance to as high as  fA > 0.04 in only one replicate.
