Chiasmata in chromosome of Maize (Zea)
The
photo shows two pairs of synapsed chromatids, with
five chiasmata between
various pairs of the upper and lower pairs. Note that
chiasmata occur only between one member of
the top pair and one of the bottom pair, never within
pairs.
