Homologous regions of mammalian X & Y chromosomes
The X
& Y chromosomes share homologous sequence at the distal end of the
long arm, which allows them to pair during mitosis and meiosis. The
bulk of each chromosome sequence is specific, and includes the
characteristic X- and Y-linked genes.
