Transcription of RNA from DNA

In this diagram, RNA synthesis has already been proceeding for some time: the dsDNA at the left was opened, transcribed, and then re-closed.The RNAPol molecule opens the dsDNA,  the RNA molecule is synthesized in the 5'3' direction, off of the template DNA strand. The 5' end is transcribed first, and afterwards is unchanged.
