Alternative structures for Deoxyribose

Note that numbering in the Haworth structure of Deoxyribose sugar proceeds clock-wise, with the 5'-C projecting. This is the numbering system used in molecular biology. The Fischer structure numbering runs top to bottom, and is often used in organic chemistry.

HOMEWORK: Briefly describe the importance of each of the Carbon atoms in the Haworth structure for the biochemistry of nucleic acid.
