(lab)
and Deformed (Dfd) control
formation of head segments. Sex comb reduced
(Scr) and Antennapedia (Ant) control the
identity of the first two thoracic segments, respectively. The proboscipedia (pb) locus is not
a homeotic gene, but rather maintains differentiated states in adults.
