Charles Robert Darwin (1809 -1882) "The Father of Evolution"

    Darwin first achieved notice with his "Journal of Researches into the Geology and Natural History of the Various Countries Visited by H.M.S. Beagle " (excerpted as "Voyage of the Beagle"), 1839), and subsequently wrote many influentical books on evolutionary topics. He is best known "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" (1859; six editions through 1881) and "The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex" (1871) .
