Evolutionary relationships of aquatic and terrestrial caniform carnivores

The three marine families ["true seals" (Phocidae), "eared seals" (Otarridae), and the walrus (Odobenidae)] form a monophyletic clade; their closest terrestrial relative is undetermined.
