"Tower" or "Bossed" Skull phenotype in sickle-cell anemia

    Note the exaggerated height of the child's skull ("towering") and the indentations ("bosses") on either side. This is due to hyperactivity of the bone marrow in replacing erythrocyte loss due to sickling.
