B versus A forms of DNA
DNA naturally occurs in the B form. The A form occurs when the
concentration
of water is reduced during crystallization, such that the
molecule
becomes more compact. The
base pairs are not coplanar, and the major and minor grooves
are not
strongly differentiated.
