Plants not vegetatively proliferating by bulbils. Taproot absent. Aerial stems without either glandular hairs or resinous warts. Leaves not heterophyllous; deciduous. Petioles present. Blades herbaceous. Leaves not lobed. Leaf margins glabrous. Conspicuous hydathodes absent.

Plants bisexual. Flowers in inflorescences. Inflorescence without bulbils. Calyx herbaceous. Petals present; without contrasting markings; longer than the calyx. Styles present. Fruit without calyx persisting; glabrous; styles style may persist until dehiscence but is not modified.
