Message from your BGSA Executive

Hello fellow Biology Grads,

Welcome to this year’s Biology Graduate Student Symposium.

The BGSS is a great opportunity to build a research community among the Biology Department, the Environmental Sciences Program, the Ocean Sciences Centre, and the Cognitive and Behavioural Ecology Program.

As the BGSA Executive we are tasked with improving your life as a graduate student by:

1: Offering professional development activities;

2: Creating and facilitating opportunities to interact and collaborate with the diverse faculty and student body affiliated with the Department of Biology through social events and the BGSA website;

3: Speaking with the administration and department on behalf of graduate students about issues pertinent to graduate student life (i.e. teaching assistantships, travel funding, course offerings, etc.);

4: Facilitating a productive and interesting weekly seminar series; and

5: Creating a forum through which graduate students can present their research to the department.

Please take advantage of our website (www.mun.ca/biology/bgsa) and weekly newsletters to keep informed and involved. If you have any questions or concerns or want to get involved email the BGSA executive at BGSA@mun.ca

The past two executives have made great strides at improving the BGSA and we hope to carry on this tradition! The BGSS is the start of an exciting year research and otherwise for all BGSA’ers.

We hope you will enjoy this year’s symposium

Cheers
