Oxidative Stress and Apolipoprotein E - Risk for Cardiovascular Disease

While the role of oxidized LDL in the etiology of cardiovascular disease is well established, the role of oxidative stress on apolipoprotein E (apoE), a major cholesterol transport protein in the plasma and CNS is not well understood. In this study, we employed a combination of mass spectrometric and functional approach to examine the effect of environmental smoke exposure on the structure and function of apoE.
