Classics Guest Lectures: Roman Vindolanda

The Departments of Archaeology and Classics present two Guest Lectures on the archaeology and history of the Roman fort of Vindolanda located just south of Hadrian's Wall, UK.

University of Western Ontario researchers Dr. Elizabeth Greene and Dr. Alexander Meyer  supervise the annual Vindolanda Field School. Over the past four years they have participated in excavations on the site of Vindolanda, a military fort and settlement on the Roman frontier in Britain, in partnership with the research program run by The Vindolanda Trust.

The project brings together archaeological and historical approaches to the subject of Roman Britain and frontier studies in order to investigate issues such as provincial life, Roman imperialism and identity in antiquity.
