Let Me Tell You My Story ... Leanne, Class of '16
I wouldn’t be here at Memorial without your generosity. You make a huge difference in the lives of students like me and I can’t thank you enough for your incredible support!
I grew up in Corner Brook, in the scenic Humber Valley on the west coast of the island. I knew from an early age Memorial was the university for me. It’s a family tradition; my dad, sister and brother all graduated from here. After my first year at Grenfell Campus, I moved to St. John’s where I’m completing a double major in Communications and French in the Faculty of Arts.
This is a big year for me! The finish line is in sight and I have my eye on grad school. I feel I can tackle my next adventure thanks to my Memorial degree and education.
You play a big role in my education. That’s because I’ve been lucky to receive several scholarships and bursaries made possible through gifts from alumni and friends like you. These have truly meant the world to me. Because of you, I haven’t had to worry about making ends meet and paying for my education. Instead, I am focused on my courses and assignments. And, I’ve learned the importance of giving back, too. I’ve been able to do some volunteer work, which I find incredibly rewarding.
It’s really a great feeling to know you've got my back.
I’m just one story, though. You can help other students like me pursue their dreams.
Your gifts also help Memorial’s world-class researchers and staff find solutions to real-life problems and ensure that our campuses are better equipped with the best technology and resources.
I really hope you consider making a gift this year. Your support is so important.
We’ll probably never meet face-to-face, but please know I wouldn’t have come this far without your help. I’m forever grateful!
Thank you so much,
