Ferriss Hodgett Library
Frank and Mary Curry of Aylmer, Quebec, donated about $4,600 worth of art books to the Ferriss Hodgett Library at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook. Mr. Curry, a veteran of the Second World War, passed through Newfoundland ports many times during his time with the Canadian Navy. "These are beautiful books," said Louise McGillis, acting associate university librarian, pictured here. "The collection is diverse, touching on a number of different areas – everything from printmaking and sculpture to the art of Van Gogh and Canadian painters." Mr. Curry also donated to the library a copy of his book, War at Sea, which is based on his five-and-a-half year daily diary during the Second World War. The diary is archived at the Canadian Archive in Ottawa.
