Memorial University has a bicameral system of governance with a Senate, responsible for academic matters, and a Board of Regents, charged with the management and control of the business and affairs of the university. Responsibility for developing and implementing policies and new initiatives approved by these bodies rests with the university's officers and senior administrators.
