Alumnus/a of the Year
The Alumnus/a of the Year Award is the highest honour awarded by the Alumni Association of Memorial University of Newfoundland, and is awarded annually to a member of the Association who has made an outstanding contribution to the association, the university, the community at large, or a particular field of endeavor. Why is it important to recognize alumni achievement? Quite simply, it's a celebration of the tremendous successes of people with whom we share a common passion: Memorial University.

Alumni and friends give generously to the Memorial University in many ways: by recruiting new students, mentoring current students through their university studies and into their career and life choices, volunteering, and through financial support, to name just a few. Memorial University alumni from one end of the country to the other - and beyond - have never been ones to shy away from demonstrating their pride in Memorial (and perhaps a little longing for home!). Alumni enthusiastically participate in events held by the more than 28 active Memorial alumni chapters. There are over 50,000 Memorial alumni living and working across the country and around the world. Many of their stories are told in Luminus magazine, the official alumni magazine.
